What is Tails of the World?
Tails of the World: Volume Two is a collaborative fundraising book project from pet photographers all around the globe. We are united to help raise funds for pet rescue and spread joy with beautiful photography and heartwarming stories.
Each photographer does 10 sessions in their city and donates their session fees to a rescue of their choice. This book features 74 photographers, 14 countries and 785 dogs! Three of the photographers happen to be in Minnesota! With gorgeous photos submitted from international pet photographers and artists, this book celebrates each unique location and the dogs who live there.
We collectively raised over $65,000 for animal charities! 100% of proceeds from the sales of the book will be donated to Second Chance Animal Rescue, Inc.
Shine Pet Photography donated the total session fees of $1,500 to Animal Allies
let’s meet the iconic Duluth dogs featured in the book:
ODIN
A 3 year old Husky-boxer mix. He is a little adventurer at heart with a love for swimming and hiking but don't be fooled.. he's a dog that can do both because he has his lazy moments and sometimes all he wants is some snuggles. When he curls up to relax he tucks his front paws in like a cat turning into a loaf and yes he learned that from his cat roommate.
Enger Park: Featuring a golf course, a fairytale-like tower built in 1939, an American-Japanese peace bell - a gift from the sister city of Ohara-Isumi, several gardens, walking paths, grills and views overlooking Lake Superior, Duluth and Wisconsin.
RUDDER
A classic 11 month old golden retriever! He needs to say hi to everyone and LOVES swimming, fetching, chewing up sticks and is wise beyond his age! He's 100% goofball, spunk & fluffy love.
Lester Park. An east Duluth park with over 9 miles of hiking and biking trails between Amity Creek and Lester River. Follow the trails to Lake Superior or go deep into the woods. It also features a park, waterfalls, a scenic drive and a charming stone bridge.
LILY
Lily is a 3 year old mixed Shepherd that has the kindest eyes & energy. She was found a stray in Texas who had the wounds to show she'd been through more than any dog should have to go through but her heart of gold couldn't be touched. She loves everyone and has a wisdom about her. Lily also has a tortoise best friend she likes to explore with and a 6th sense for bugs, if theres one nearby she knows it first and is sure to let us all know with the cutest head tilts.
Jay Cooke. A park along the St Louis River, known and studied for its unique rock formations. It features a swinging bridge, over 50 miles of trails, waterfalls, camping and wildlife.
AYVA
A rescued 5 year old, Mini Australian Shepard with the sweetest personality and wiggly butt. She is a bundle of sweet, wiggly, loving energy that will absolutely make your day!
Leif Erickson Park. Created in 1927, named after the Leif Erickson vessel that sailed from Norway to Duluth, MN. An iconic Duluth, MN park along Lake Superior filled with 3000+ rose and floral bushes. Theres also a big fountain, gazebo, benches and access to the famous Lakewalk and Lake Superior.
BENDER
Bender is a classic 5 year old staffy... a rescue & a lover with the energy that makes us all say "I wish I had even a little bit of that"! If a kangaroo, cheetah & trash panda had a baby, It would be Bender. He's lightning fast, spring loaded & loves to eat. He's also happy about the smallest things in life and if we all saw the world through his perspective, we'd probably have a lot more joy.
Park Point. An island separated by the man-made canal built in 1871 and only accessible by the famous Aerial Lift Bridge or by boat. Its 7 miles of dog friendly sandy & grassy beaches with volleyball courts, hiking trails and parks.
IZZY BEAN
She may be small but she can probably outrun any dog! She's a 3 year old Australian Cattle Dog/Schnauzer/Poodle with an impressive frisbee catch, stamina and ears. She is the heart & unofficial mascot of her human's cross country running club & track teams. She is loyal, spunky, smart, independent and usually found rocking a bandana.
Canal Park. One of the most iconic Duluth locations along the Lake Superior shore that attracts tourists from all over. The streets are lined with local businesses, good food, unique architecture and the famous Aerial Lift Bridge. Theres also a Lakewalk where you'll see dozens of dogs strolling by, dog friendly patios, 1000ft ships and nature.
ROSCOE
A 7 year old lab mix that has a heart of gold & the way to get to that heart of gold is through snuggles and belly rubs of course. He has a special intuition for when you need some extra love, snuggles and support in your life and his superpower is turning anyone into a dog person. The one thing he doesn't really like? Water and getting dirty. I know, funny for a lab mix but if its raining, he'll wait. Puddle? Theres gotta be another route. Roscoe is a drop of sunshine on a rainy day.
Stoney Point. A scenic, small rocky beach with cobblestones & ledgerocks. Popular for relaxing, having a picnic, kayaking, chasing northern lights and stargazing.
JOSIE
Josie is a Mix that was rescued at 3 months old through Animal Allies, the rescue that her session fee was donated to. Now she's 6 years old and lives a purposeful life doing therapy work. Josie visits schools, nursing homes and rescue events, bringing joy to everyone around her.

Brighton Beach. A dog friendly rocky beach along Lake Superior that's great for agate hunting, skipping rocks, having a picnic and taking a walk. It features unique tabletop rock formations with woods on one side and the lake on the other.
NORM
Norm is an 11 year old black lab / border collie mix. He is the definition of a best friend and has been there for his human in the way we all dream about in a dog. Don't let his grey hairs fool you though, he's a puppy at heart and loves swimming, dock jumping, trails, hiking, paddle boarding and carrying around his favorite toys.
Park Point. An island separated by the man-made canal built in 1871 and only accessible by the famous Aerial Lift Bridge or by boat. Its 7 miles of dog friendly sandy and grassy beaches with volleyball courts, hiking trails and parks.
